What is Compounded Semaglutide?

Compounded Semaglutide is a medication that belongs to the class of drugs called glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 receptor agonists). It is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, however it can help assist in weight loss. Semaglutide is the main ingredient in medications you may have heard of, such as Ozempic or Wegovy. Compounded Semaglutide is simply the medication with additional vitamins added for your benefit.

How does it work?

Compounded Semaglutide works by mimicking the action of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in the body. GLP-1 is released by the intestines in response to food intake and  promotes a feeling of fullness, all of which contribute to better appetite control. If your provider determines that compounded Semaglutide is right for you, the duration you are on this medication will vary in your response to treatment.  It is administered in a weekly, subcutaneous injection.
