What is Compounded Semaglutide?

Compounded Semaglutide is a medication that belongs to the class of drugs called glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 receptor agonists). It is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, however it can help assist in weight loss. Semaglutide is the main ingredient in medications you may have heard of, such as Ozempic or Wegovy. Compounded Semaglutide is simply the medication with additional vitamins added for your benefit.

How does it work?

Compounded Semaglutide works by mimicking the action of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in the body. GLP-1 is released by the intestines in response to food intake and  promotes a feeling of fullness, all of which contribute to better appetite control. If your provider determines that compounded Semaglutide is right for you, the duration you are on this medication will vary in your response to treatment.  It is administered in a weekly, subcutaneous injection.

Dermal Filler: Everything You Need to Know

Is dermal filler right for you?

What Are the Benefits of Filler?

Dermal fillers can replace lost volume to help smooth wrinkles, plump the lips, and restore a more youthful appearance. Filler is versatile in where and how it can be used which is why it's one of the top rejuvenating treatments.

While dermal fillers are casually known as “wrinkle fillers,” they can do much more than just smooth out wrinkles, although they are excellent at this too! Here are a few of the common issues dermal fillers can help address:

  • Smooth out lines around nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)

  • Enhance & restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples

  • Diminish vertical lip lines

  • Plump & enhance the lips

  • Smooth out a chin crease

  • Improve symmetry among facial features

What Areas Can I Use Filler?

We use filler in many different areas of the face and body, including the under-eye, lips, cheeks, and jaw lines.

  • Lips: Lip filler is one of our most popular services as it not only improves the shape and volume of the lips, it tightens the skin around the mouth. Wrinkles from aging and smoking are softened and the lips are plum and hydrated.

  • Cheeks: Cheek fillers are injections that raise the volume of the area above and around your cheekbones. This provides the illusion of a more defined bone structure. By injecting volume under your skin layer, cheek fillers can also smooth out wrinkles and fine lines.

  • Under Eye: Also known as a tear trough, under-eye fillers can help with a tired or sunken appearance and deep indentations.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Unlike Botox, dermal filler does not impact a muscle's ability to move. Fillers are injected beneath the skin to provide facial balancing and restoration. Due to aging and other factors, depletion of hyaluronic acid occurs in the skin, causing loose facial skin and wrinkles. Dermal fillers can replenish this substance through injections placed directly in the affected areas of your face. This causes near-instant plumping up of your skin and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

How Long Do Fillers Last?

The effects of dermal fillers can last anywhere between six months to two years. It depends on the product being used and where on the body the product is being injected. Your provider can provide details at your consultation.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

Dermal fillers are the second most popular non-surgical facial cosmetic treatment in the US today after Botox. At the time of your initial consultation, you should feel free to ask questions about dermal filler injections in order to make an informed decision. Our dedicated providers will answer your questions accurately and in detail.

If you are curious to see if the filler is the right option for you, schedule your consultation at Prim Aesthetics today!

The benefits of Botox and how to make them last

Find out the secrets to making your Botox treatment last longer.

Why use Botox?

First things first. We have all heard of Botox, but is it a good option for you?

Botox is our most popular treatment, and for good reason. It safely and effectively reduces the look of stubborn wrinkles, such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet. But did you know the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved it as a treatment for various health issues, including eyelid spasms, excessive sweating, and migraine headaches?

Whether you are considering Botox for aesthetic or medical reasons, our nurse practitioners are expert injectors and are known for their experience, precision, and natural-looking results. You can learn more by scheduling your Botox consultation at Prim Aesthetics online today! Our knowledgeable staff will answer any questions you have and can help you determine whether you are a candidate for treatment.

Seeing is believing

How often should I get Botox?

The recommended treatment for Botox is once every 4-5 months. As Botox begins to safely dissolve into the body, its effects on muscles and nerves begin to dissolve. However, if your facial muscles begin to train themselves to contract less, the period of time for each treatment may be extended even longer!

How can I maximize my results from Botox?

There are several ways you can maximize the benefits of Botox. While there are some things that are out of your control, following the below steps will help prolong a youthful look and maximize Botox results.

Avoid Sun Damage

Sun exposure boosts blood circulation, causing blood vessels to dilate, potentially causing your Botox treatment to disperse faster than usual. To avoid, this wear sunscreen, with an SPF of at least 30 and try to avoid the sun completely on the day of treatment!

Take it down a notch at the gym

We all deserve a break so consider your Botox treatment like a note from your doctor that gets you out of gym class.

On the day of your Botox treatment, skip the gym. Going forward, opt for a medium-paced workout. High-intensity workouts are designed to boost your metabolism in order to burn calories and build muscle more quickly. By raising your metabolic rate, you may be causing your body to metabolize the Botox more quickly so it breaks down sooner than expected.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t exercise or even do intensive workouts, just integrate more low to moderate training into your workouts. This will keep you healthy and maximize your Botox results.

Adjust your at-home skincare routine

Using a good-quality facial moisturizer is essential to keeping your skin smooth. Moisturizers containing collagen and hyaluronic acid can be particularly beneficial by keeping your skin looking plump and healthy and reducing how quickly Botox breaks down. Avoid using any kind of masks, toners, or abrasive cleaners for at least a week after your Botox treatment. These products can disrupt the placement of Botox injections.

Think Zinc

Zinc is known as the Botox booster! In a study from the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, researchers found that people who received Botox and then took a 50-milligram zinc supplement saw a significantly longer duration in their results. Over 90 percent of participants who received the supplement, rather than the placebo, reported around a 30 percent increase in the duration of the initial injections.

Zinc should be taken four days prior to treatment with a dose of two capsules daily - one in the morning and one in the evening. The intake of zinc before and at the time of injections controls the quantity of zinc and phytase in the body which helps to enhance your Botox results.
